Fourteen People

-
Fourteen people are hunched over the dining table, eating lunch and drinking wine. They are talking intensely, savouring the warmth of the words they speak. Fourteen people are moving closer towards each other, sharing memories. “Yes, I remember! That was when . . . ,” they say. They look each other in the eyes and smile.
Fourteen people are sitting together at the dining table with no other thoughts than what they share.
Their lives had not crossed until that day. Yet they are united and close in the tenderness of the moment.
Fourteen people are hunched together, united and close.
That morning they have buried their dearly beloved friend.
