Poached Pears

Cook peeled, cored and sliced poaching pears in a little water (or sweet white wine) with lemon, cinnamon and sugar, until they are soft and the juice is siropy. How long this will take depends on the pears.

Serve warm with a ball of vanilla ice cream and grated dark chocolate for its contrasting colour and bittersweet taste.
