It has been discovered that Homo Erectus in Indonesia used shells as cutting tools. That does not surprise me at all. Homo Sapiens still uses shells. The fishmonger in France scrapes the scales from the fish with a scallop, and we eat mussels, making use of the shells as tweezers.
